Connecting Messaging Channels
Your customers already message you on social media. Messaging Channels connects those accounts to Rentablez so incoming messages arrive in a single inbox — no more switching between apps or losing enquiries in a personal Facebook account. Connect once, and your whole team can reply from Rentablez.
Which Channels Can I Connect?
Today you can connect two channels through this page:
| Channel | What connects | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook Messenger | A Facebook Page you manage | You must be an admin of at least one Facebook Page |
| An Instagram account linked to a Facebook Page | The account must be a Business or Creator account connected to a Facebook Page |
Looking for WhatsApp? Sending invoices and reminders over WhatsApp is handled separately through Invoice Automation and WA Credits, not this page. See Invoice Automation & WA Credits.
Before You Start
- You need the
meta_chat.settingspermission to open this page and connect or disconnect channels. If you don’t see it in Settings, ask an administrator to grant your role the permission. - The connection uses a Facebook login popup, so allow popups for Rentablez in your browser.
- Log in to Facebook (in the same browser) with the account that manages the Page or Instagram profile you want to connect.
If you see “Facebook integration is not configured yet”, the platform-level Facebook app hasn’t been set up for your account. Contact your Rentablez administrator — this isn’t something you can fix from Settings.
Connecting a Channel
Step 1 — Open Messaging Channels
Go to Settings and, under the Integrations group, choose Messaging Channels.
Step 2 — Start the connection
Click Connect Messenger or Connect Instagram. A Facebook authorization popup opens. Sign in if prompted and approve the access Rentablez requests so it can receive and send messages on the account’s behalf.
Keep the popup open until it finishes. If a popup blocker stops it, you’ll see a “Popup was blocked” message — enable popups and try again.
Step 3 — Pick the account (if you manage more than one)
If your Facebook login manages a single Page or Instagram account, Rentablez connects it automatically and confirms with a success message.
If it manages several, you’ll see a “Which page do you want to connect?” picker listing each account. Select the one you want, then click Connect.
Instagram note: Rentablez only lists Instagram accounts that are Business or Creator profiles linked to a Facebook Page. If none appear, convert your Instagram to a Business/Creator account and link it to a Facebook Page, then reconnect.
Once connected, the channel appears in the Connected Channels list.
Managing Connected Channels
Each connected account shows as a card with its name, the channel type, and the date it was connected. A status badge tells you where it stands:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Connected | The channel is live and receiving messages. |
| Disconnected | The channel is paused — no messages come in until you reconnect. |
Disconnect a channel
Click Disconnect on the channel’s card. A confirmation appears warning that you’ll stop receiving messages from that channel — you can reconnect anytime. Confirm to pause it. The card stays in the list marked Disconnected.
Reconnect a channel
Click Reconnect on a disconnected card to resume receiving messages. No need to go through the Facebook popup again.
Where Messages Show Up
After a channel is connected, new customer messages flow into the Meta Chat inbox in the main navigation, where your team can read conversations and reply. Reading and replying to those messages needs the meta_chat.read permission (separate from the meta_chat.settings permission used to manage connections here).
Connecting a channel doesn’t move your old message history into Rentablez. Only conversations that arrive after you connect appear in the inbox.
